New York, NY � February 18, 2009 � Alacra, Inc., a leading provider of online business information, today launched the Alacra Pulse Platform, which finds, filters and packages web-based content so that you can quickly consume relevant, important information about a company. The Pulse Platform reads and analyzes news stories and blog posts from more than 2,000 hand-selected mainstream and alternative media RSS feeds searching for specific types of business information. Once valuable information is found, it is organized and presented in event-specific applications.
The first application on the Alacra Pulse Platform is Street Pulse. Street Pulse finds comments by sell-side, industry and credit research analysts and melds those with comments from respected bloggers in an effort to answer the question �what do key opinion leaders have to say..." about a given company.
"Blogs and the alternative media are rapidly becoming a critical source of business information" according to Alacra CEO Steve Goldstein, "yet it's incredibly difficult for most users to filter the signal from the noise". The feeds in the Alacra Pulse Platform are hand-selected, so that only blogs from credible, respected sources are included.
The Pulse Platform is built upon Alacra�s proprietary Applied Knowledge Extraction� technology, which uses a combination of semantic analysis and an existing knowledge base to accurately identify entities (such as companies or analysts) and business events (such as M&A rumors, corporate bankruptcy filings or layoffs).
Following Street Pulse will be additional applications focused on distressed company events, such as bankruptcies, layoffs and plant closings and M&A events and rumors.
