DATA DOWNLINK TO OFFER INVESTMENT RESEARCH
REPORTS FROM THE INVESTEXT GROUP
New York, NY, May 28, 1998 . . . Expanding its electronic information services to include the world's largest on-line collection of investment research reports, Data Downlink Corporation announced today the addition of the Investext database to its web-based information service, .xls. Data Downlink will provide access to the text portion of the Investext database and, at no additional charge, will allow users to convert the tables and other quantitative data found within these documents into spreadsheets. The data will be available at www.xls.com as of May 28, 1998.
The Investext database offers research reports from more than 450 investment banks, brokerage houses and consulting sources worldwide. The Investext reports available at Data Downlink's web site will include company, industry and regional information, providing expert opinion, analysis, trends, forecasts and projections. A two-year research report archive will be available at the Data Downlink site containing more than 300,000 research reports by premier investment banks and brokerage firms such as Salomon Smith Barney, Merrill Lynch, Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette, Paine Webber, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and other investment leaders.

Users of financial data provided by Investext reports via .xls will include financial analysts, bankers, information specialists, corporate executives, legal researchers, business consultants, strategic planners and others. Investext reports are used for merger and acquisition research, product and business development, financial planning, competitive intelligence, strategy development and other business applications.
Using Data Downlink's proprietary data shredding software, .xls customers will be able to convert tabular and quantitative data found within Investext research reports into spreadsheets at no additional charge. By accessing the Investext database via .xls, users can search for reports and tables based on key words, geography, date, company, industry, product, author and source. All reports and tables are indexed. The data is updated daily.
