Improved Keyword Searching on .xls
November 19, 1999
Data Downlink is excited to announce important enhancements to the keyword search on .xls. You can either search across databases by entering a keyword on the Home Page, or use the Advanced Search link for more searching options. The following changes have been made to make searching across databases even better than before:
- Additional sources, including The Economist Intelligence Unit, Euromonitor and OECD, have been incorporated into the keyword search. This allows you to find specific data series from these databases right from the main search and choose one or more series to download. Previously, these databases had to be searched separately.
- You can now download multiple articles from Business & Industry right from your keyword results page. Previously, it was possible to download only one article at a time unless you were searching the database individually. This also applies to TableBase and Business and Management Practices.
- The keyword search now searches the business descriptions of companies in Harris InfoSource in addition to the .xls company file. Search results may now include US private companies in Harris that do not have Snapshot Pages in .xls. CorpTech companies will soon be incorporated as well.
- You can now link to individual database search screens right from the search results page instead of having to click on the Sources list first to search specific databases.
- Multi-select boxes have been added to the Advanced Keyword Search to allow for more precise searching. You can now choose multiple Concepts, Sources, Industries and Countries.
In conjunction with these changes, Business & Industry, TableBase and Business & Management Practices have new search screens. Each database has one search screen that combines the features of the basic and advanced screens previously available. Users can choose between web and Boolean keyword searching.
