DESCRIPTION
Standard & Poor's was established in 1860, to provide independent insight, analysis and information to the financial community to help them determine value in the marketplace. S&Ps founding principle was "the investor's right to know." Today, Standard & Poor's is committed to offering products and services that contribute to transparent, efficient markets and that give the financial community the independent benchmarks they need to make informed financial decisions.
In 1966, McGraw-Hill Inc. acquired Standard & Poor's, and today Standard & Poor's is a division of the Corporation. Founded in 1888, The McGraw-Hill Companies is a leading information services provider meeting worldwide needs in education, business, finance, the professions and government.
S&P Stock Reports are the industry standard in top-shelf equity analysis, covering approximately 5,000 publicly traded companies listed on the New York, American, NASDAQ and regional stock exchanges. The Stock Reports "tear sheets" include Standard & Poor's price-volume chart, statistical measures, fundamental analytics, analysts' earnings-per-share estimates, industry outlook, and the latest news on the company.
- The Basic (Stock) Report details Standard & Poor's analysts' commentary on each company, plus current and historical financial data.
- Industry Outlook shows important events and trends relevant to each company in that industry along with comparisons to noteworthy peers.
- Wall Street Consensus compiles the opinions of Wall Street analysts who follow that stock to show their stance on earnings estimates and Buy/Sell recommendations.
- News Headlines are concise summaries of recent news regarding the company and its stock earnings reports.
Stock Reports are produced on:
- Any company included in an S&P Index (S&P 500, MidCap 400, SmallCap 600).
- Any fee-paying company (some companies elect to be included in the Stock Report Listing Fee program whereby S&P initiates Stock Report coverage based on the companys request)
- Various other large companies that have S&P STARS coverage (coverage based on analyst and/or editorial discretion).
Street Edition reports are produced in those cases where S&P has Wall Street Consensus Earnings Estimates on a company but does not cover that company in Stock Reports. If at some later date S&P elects to initiate Stock Report coverage, the Street Edition goes away.
